An entrepreneur and executive for more than 25 years, Alan S. Cohn began his career at George Washington University in Washington, DC. While studying toward his Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs, Mr. Cohn led his peers as Chairman of the University Program Board as well as student representative to the University's Board of Directors. He then went on to the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he earned a Juris Doctor in 1981. After earning admission to the Maryland Bar, he joined his family business, which is now known as Spectera.
Since that time, Alan S. Cohn has led and founded companies across multiple industries. His professional history includes leadership roles with Mail RX, a mail-order prescription medication company, and National Computer Services, a healthcare software development group. Furthermore, Mr. Cohn currently leads business turnaround and incubation firm KAB Associates as its Managing Partner, where he guides new and struggling companies.
On behalf of Avesis, Alan S. Cohn continues to drive innovation geared toward the company's 6 million members. As a result, Avesis recently introduced laser surgery benefits for its vision customers, as well as Eye Exam Only and Materials Only plans. Additionally, he has driven the development of Medicare and Medicaid plans that complement the company's private label and employer sponsored plans.
